Since 1991, 25 Million Euros were invested into construction and 30.4 million Euros into medical equipment of Klinikum Uckermark.
Collaboration between Klinikum Uckermark in Schwedt and Pomeranian Medical Academy in Szczecin, Poland
· A close medical and scientific collaboration has been established between Klinikum Uckermark and the Pomeranian Medical Academy in Szczecin, Poland since 1992.
· Seminars and electives for 6th year students of the Pomerianian Academy are held in Schwedt on a regular basis.
· Clinical Fellowships at Klinikum Uckermark are open to applicants from Poland.
· Staff of Klinikum Uckermark serves as faculty at the Pomeranian Medical Academy.
· As a collaborative effort, an annual "Pomerania Symposium" is held.
· A postgraduate exchange program has been established.
· A medical doctorate program for german graduates is offered by the Pomeranian Academy
Klinikum Uckermark - where we came from
1966 Start of construction of the planned regional Healtcare Center in Schwedt
1969 Completion of the regional hospital in Schwedt
1973 Opening ceremony for the regional hospital in Schwedt
1981 Promotion to the status of a County Hospital; the status of a "central hospital" awarded by the land of Brandenburg
1990 Ownership transferred to the city of Schwedt
1991 New name: Klinikum Uckermark
Due to external financial support the hospital and its medical equipment could be substantially improved. Improvements include construction of new surgical facilities as well as a reconstruction of the entrance area including administrative offices. Moreover, a nuclear medicine ward was set up and the citical care unit was completely renewed.
With excellent medical equipement and highly qualified personnell Klinikum Uckermark is well prepared for providing high level medical services.
